
The Secretary of the Navy (Semar) located the two sailboats with humanitarian aid for Cuba since last Thursday, as reported by the entity this Saturday. The vessels are located 80 nautical miles (149 kilometers) northwest of Havana and were sighted by a Navy aircraft. The activists of the Nuestra América convoy, to which the sloops belong, confirmed to EL PAÍS that the nine crew members are fine and estimated that their arrival will be during the day or, at the latest, on Sunday.
“We thank the Mexican and Cuban authorities for their support, coordination and professionalism,” highlighted a spokesperson for the flotilla. For its part, the Mexican Navy stressed that the operation began ex officio after the SV Tiger Moth and the SV Friend Ship, 14 and 12 meters in length, respectively, did not arrive in Havana on the scheduled date: between Tuesday and Wednesday.
