The program Milujem Slovensko is a popular knowledge-entertainment format, which after many years on the screens of the public broadcaster STVR, was unexpectedly anchored in the broadcasting structure of the JOJ television. The whole concept is based on a dynamic battle between two teams made up of well-known Slovak faces, who, under the leadership of their captains, test their knowledge of their native country.
A proven and audience-attractive pair sat on the captain’s chairs Adela Vinczeová and Matej Sajfa Cifra, whose mutual rivalry and witty banter give the show the energy it needs.
The very principle of the game consists of a series of diverse rounds that test the contestants not only on their factual knowledge of the history, geography or culture of Slovakia, but also on their perception and ability to improvise. Teams guess Slovak music hits, determine the location of places on a blind map or try to describe personalities and objects typical of our region within a time limit. There is also an adrenaline element in the form of a ticking birthday present that can explode in anyone’s hands.
Despite the fact that the teams honestly collect points in individual disciplines throughout the evening, the overall winner is decided at the very end at the wheel of fortune. It is this moment that brings an element of unpredictability to the session, because the number of uploaded points serves only as a ticket to a certain number of spins. Since there are high values on the wheel, but also zero or negative points, the winner can change dramatically at the last second.
After a series of losses, luck smiled on Adela at the wheel of fortune. “It would really be good if you dialed the death key today,” moderator Martin Nikodým dug into it. Vincze quickly responded to his words. “I think it was a really good forum. Then I’ll go back to public television alone. I don’t care anymore. It’s my losing streak. Let’s finish it“, she declared teasingly.
