James Marián Šajnoha, a prominent mountaineer and former chairman of the Slovak Mountaineering Association (SHS), died at the age of 86. The association informed about it on the social network. Šajnoha was a member of the first Slovak expedition to Mount Everest in 1984.

In 1990, Šajnoha participated in the restoration of SHS James and was elected its chairman. Until 2012, he worked at the Encián Mountaineering School. He published articles in professional and popular magazines, wrote several teaching texts. He is the co-author of the book 100 years of James, which was published on the occasion of the anniversary of the Slovak Mountaineering Association.
