Air China resumes direct flight from Beijing to Pyongyang

Chinese airline service to the North Korean capital has been paralyzed since 2020; 1st flight was completed this Monday (30th March)

This Monday (March 30, 2026) it held its 1st direct flight from Beijing to Pyongyang – capital of North Korea – in 6 years. The service was resumed after a shutdown that began in 2020 due to restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Flight CA121 left Beijing International Airport at 8:09 local time and arrived at Sunan International Airport in Pyongyang at 11:00. According to the Chinese state news agency, the Chinese ambassador to North Korea, Wang Yajun, and Chinese diplomats greeted the passengers who disembarked on North Korean soil.

According to the website, the next flight is scheduled for April 6, at the same time. On the Air China website, you can see that the service will run weekly, with direct flights every Monday. On the website, flights to North Korea appear with tickets already sold out.
