A 58-year-old man was arrested after an unusual incident at Daytona Beach international airport, in the state of Florida, in the United States. The suspect allegedly invaded a restricted area with his vehicle and tried to enter two aircraft.
According to authorities, the man collided at high speed against a closed gate, managing to access the runway and head towards the area where planes linked to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University were located. Once there, he tried, unsuccessfully, to enter two aircraft.
The situation was quickly detected by an airport operations officer and a security guard, who pursued the suspect on foot and managed to immobilize him before the police arrived.
According to advanced information, the man showed signs of intoxication and, when confronted by authorities, he stated that he did not remember what happened.
The case is being investigated, in an incident that, despite its severity, did not cause any injuries.
