The Ghanaian football federation announced this Tuesday (31) the dismissal of its coach, Otto Addo, hours after losing in a friendly against Germany and just over 70 days before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
The African team lost 2-1 in Stuttgart on Monday (30), with a goal in injury time from Deniz Undav for the German team.
This was the fourth consecutive defeat for Addo’s team, who were beaten 5-1 by Austria last week.
“The association wishes to sincerely thank Otto Addo for his contribution to the team and wishes him all the luck in his future projects,” the federation stated.
She also informed that “she will communicate the new technical direction of Estrelas Negras at the appropriate time”.
Addo, 50, has been in charge of the Ghana national team since March 2024.
Ghana is in the same group as England, Croatia and Panama at the North American World Cup, which will be played from June 11 to July 19.
