The management gave two months for the president of Fiemg (Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais), to travel around Minas Gerais, become better known and show that he is capable of contesting the elections for governor.
Roscoe joined the PL this Tuesday (31), in Brasília, amid the party’s concern about the platform of the senator (PL-RJ), pre-candidate for president, in the state — the second largest electoral college in the country.
The party’s leadership states that Roscoe is currently an ace in the hole and that it still does not rule out a coalition, whether with Senator Cleitinho (Republicans), or another name on the right.
Two members of the PL interviewed under reserve state that, during this Tuesday’s meeting, the management asked Roscoe to try to make his candidacy viable by the end of May so that the gavel can be dropped in June. According to reports, the businessman seemed excited.
The assessment in the PL is that Roscoe’s membership leaves the party in a slightly more comfortable situation in Minas, if negotiations with other pre-candidates do not progress or, in the optimistic scenario, he manages to project himself.
PL members claim that the elections are still completely open in the state. Furthermore, the situation is equally uncomfortable for President Lula (PT), who, having left the PSD for the PSB, is running for government.
Internal surveys have indicated that, in the spontaneous scenario (in which no option is presented to the voter), around 75% respond that they still do not know who to vote for. Many still point to the name of former governor Romeu Zema (Novo), who resigned from office last month and claimed to be a pre-candidate for President of the Republic.
