Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov said on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz is open to Russia.
“He is open to us,” declared Ushakov, speaking on Russian state TV channel Vesti, the Interfax news agency reported.
The US-Israel war against Iran has virtually halted the transport of about a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas through the strait, causing disruptions in oil supplies and rising prices.
In late March, Russia’s Foreign Ministry stated that it opposed Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, but added that the situation needs to be seen ‘in the context of the broader global situation’.
