ARTEMIS 2

The mission departed from the Kennedy Space Center, in Florida (USA) and . Artemis 2 will make a flight of around 10 days, with the spacecraft orbiting the natural satellite before returning to Earth. It will serve as a dress rehearsal for Artemis 3, planned to make the landing. Engineers perform systems, communications and life support tests during the trip.

The crew is made up of two people – Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, from NASA, and Jeremy Hansen, from the Canadian Space Agency. They remain in quarantine prior to launch and follows strict medical and operational protocols. The astronauts will evaluate the spacecraft’s performance in real deep space conditions – a step considered essential to enable the return of humans to the lunar surface in the coming years.

The space agency’s live broadcast brought together more than 2.8 million simultaneous viewers during the launch.
