The authorities ofand Australia They stated this Friday that 53 oil tankers are heading to the country, with the idea that they will arrive this month, in the middle of the growing energy insecurity in a region especially affected by instability in the passage of Hormuz.
According to Australia’s Minister of Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, the ships carry 3.7 billion liters of fuel on board, a shipment that would help alleviate concerns about fuel supply chains.
“Asian refineries not only supply Australia, they also supply Asia. That’s how it usually works,” he said in statements reported by the state channel ABC.
Bowen has claimed contacts with countries in the area, given the competition for energy supplies. “Of course, we have been in constant contact – the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and I – with our respective counterparts, and we are very satisfied with how those conversations have gone,” he said.
The vessels come from Asian countries but also from the United States and Mexico, amid doubts about the stability of supplies, after oil shipments to Australia were previously canceled due to international instability and the gigantic demand generated by the crisis in Iran.
