Easter is an important festival in Christianity. Actually the most important celebration, even more important than Christmas. Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. Jesus really existed. He was a Jewish preacher who lived in Palestine over 2,000 years ago. He had many followers. At the time the country was occupied by the Romans. And they didn’t agree with Jesus and his views. They believed he wanted to seize power and had him crucified. Of course, this was terrible for his supporters. But they believed that Jesus was resurrected three days after the crucifixion and they founded the Christian religion. Easter should remind us of this. There was not always agreement about the exact date of the festival. And it’s a bit complicated. Easter Sunday is always the first Sunday after the first full moon in spring. Spring begins on March 21st, so Easter is always after that.
