Search for young man missing at sea off Costa de Caparica continues (only) on land

This Saturday, authorities are continuing the search for the young man who disappeared on Dragão Vermelho beach, in Costa de Caparica, but only by land, says the spokesperson for the National Maritime Authority (AMN).

Ricardo Sá Granja said that, until Friday, the searches for the 17-year-old young man were also carried out by sea, but this Saturday they began to be carried out only by land, as part of the AMN’s regular patrolling actions.

The officer added that on Friday there was an extension of the search southwards, to Fonte da Telha beach, a perimeter that remains, but the young man, who disappeared on Dragão Vermelho beach, has not been located.

According to AMN, the young man was with his friends playing football, having entered the sea and ended up disappearing, on Wednesday afternoon, on that beach in the municipality of Almada, in the district of Setúbal.

Crews from the Cascais Lifeguard Station, members of the Local Command of the Lisbon Maritime Police, the Forensic Diving and Underwater Operations Group of the Maritime Police and the “SeaWatch” project were involved in the searches.

Coordinated by the Port Captain and Local Commander of the Lisbon Maritime Police, the operations also mobilized the Cacilhas Fire Department, the Civil Protection of Almada and the lifeguard associations of Costa da Caparica.
