The second ship sailing under the Turkish flag passed through the so far blocked Strait of Hormuz, the Turkish Transport Minister said on Saturday. TASR writes about it according to the AFP agency. Abdulkadir Uraloglu said that after the start of the war in the region on February 28, 15 ships belonging to Turkish ship owners were waiting to pass through the strategic strait. “Two of these 15 ships sailed through,” he said in an interview with CNN Turk. He did not give a date, but the first vessel passed with Iranian permission on March 13.
According to CNN Turk, the ships involved were Rozana and Neraki. The minister said only nine of the blocked ships had applied for permission to pass through the strait and that the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were trying to help them. “Four of them have not asked to leave. Two of them are power generation vessels and are in place. The other two are waiting for the situation to calm down,” he added.
