Find out what Easter is celebrated in China

The holiday is not part of the culture of the Asian country, but chicken eggs are found to commemorate the date

Without the majority of the population following Christianity, China does not have the custom of celebrating the Easter holiday, celebrated in Christian countries this Sunday (April 5, 2026).

Unlike Brazil, where supermarkets are filled with chocolate eggs, Chinese markets are indifferent to this tradition.

Even so, eggs, common symbols of the date in the West, are part of the Chinese tradition of celebrating Easter, but without the chocolate part.

They paint chicken eggs and write messages like “Happy Easter” and “peace and joy” to turn them into “Fuhuojie caisedan” – the translation is Easter eggs.
