GNR admits a lot of concern about this year’s numbers. More than 2 thousand accidents, around 700 injuries – 42 of them serious.
As operations of Easter 2026 of PSP and GNR recorded until today, Easter Sunday, 18 dead. Between Thursday and Sunday alone, 18 deaths – when in the entire Easter operation last year there were 5 deaths.
So far there have been more 2 thousand accidentswith practically 700 injured – 42 of them are seriously injured.
This Saturday two more people died in serious accidents: on BR 13, in Afife (Viana do Castelo), a collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle killed a 58-year-old man; much further south, on the EN 125, in Luz de Tavira (Faro), an accident between a moped and a passenger car, which caused the death of a 63-year-old man.
The most serious accident happened on Friday, in Santiago do Cacém (Setúbal): on the IC1, in a frontal collision; one person suffered serious injuries.
A GNR is “very concerned” with this year’s data, admits captain Pedro Antunes. Therefore, he explained in , the “effort” and “visibility” in the presence of Portugal’s main roads has increased.
