Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said on Wednesday (8) that Lebanon is not part of the two-week ceasefire between the United States, Israel and Iran.
“Israel supports President Trump’s decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks, provided that Iran immediately opens the Straits, Israel and countries in the region,” said a statement from Netanyahu’s office.
“The two-week ceasefire does not include Lebanon,” he added.
The United States has told Israel that it is committed to achieving these goals, shares by the US, Israel and Israel’s regional allies, in the upcoming negotiations.

The statement from Netanyahu’s office represents the Israeli leader’s first statement since the .
Israel’s position contradicts Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement that the agreement included Lebanon. US President Donald Trump did not mention Lebanon in his statement.
Iran stated that negotiations with the USA will begin on Friday (10), in Islamabad.
Context: In parallel with its war against Iran with the US, Israel has been conducting a major military campaign in southern Lebanon since early March, targeting Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants. At least 1,530 people have been killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon since March 2, the Lebanese Health Ministry said on Tuesday, including 130 children.
