European lighthouse project DeepL is partly switching to Amazon servers

Founded in Cologne in 2017 and has since grown from 22 to over 900 employees, DeepL was seen by many as a role model in terms of digital sovereignty and an alternative to Google Translate. As a European tech company, it advertised that it would only host data on its own servers. However, this will change in mid-May; from now on, Amazon will also be involved in data processing.
