The announcement of the Turkish presidency states that the telephone conversation focused mainly on the ceasefire announced since last night in the context of the developments related to Iran, as well as on the general developments in the region.
According to the same source, the two leaders exchanged views on the current situation and prospects for de-escalation of tension in the Middle East.
Erdogan is clear on the matter of observing the ceasefire
During the conversation, the Turkish president expressed his satisfaction with the ceasefire announcement and underlined the need to use the opportunity to reach a permanent peace agreement.
As stated by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the announcement of the Turkish presidency:
“After 40 days that have been extremely difficult and painful for the entire world, the two-week window of opportunity that has opened must be used to the best of its ability to reach a lasting peace agreement, and no opportunity must be given to those who attempt to undermine the process.”
At the same time, the Turkish president underlined that Ankara will continue to support efforts to find a solution, in cooperation with countries he describes as “friends and sisters”.
According to the same announcement, Erdogan stressed that “Turkey will continue to strengthen its support for the efforts for a solution that are being conducted together with friendly and sisterly countries, led by Pakistan.”
