Government should vote against apps report – 04/09/2026 – Panel

After a meeting called by the president with several ministers, the federal government decided to take a position contrary to the report by deputy Augusto Coutinho (-PE) that regulates work through applications.

The meeting was attended by the main ministers involved in the matter, including (General Secretariat), (Labor) and Sidônio Palmeira (Secom). There were also representatives from the Treasury, the Civil House and the Institutional Relations Secretariat.

Boulos and Sidônio were the ones who bought the fight and took a stand against the new report.

The general assessment at the meeting was that the final text presented by the rapporteur is much worse than the first opinion, presented last year.

President Lula criticized the text and said that it takes away workers’ rights.

The Panel anticipated that the government leaders and, therefore, defended changes. One of them Thus, in Planalto’s assessment, the text gives power to platforms that will not need to put the minimum rate into practice.

The assessment now is that it is best to vote against the text to show that workers are losing out in the dispute. The decision, however, has not yet been communicated to the government bench in the Chamber.
