In a position of obvious vulnerability (even with a lot of training), Sixto Naranjo exposed himself, daily, to the dangers of the road. He ended up dying after being run over, on Easter Sunday, when he was doing a number of his art.
At some point, most people will probably have seen something like this: they go in their car, get stuck at a traffic light, and immediately, in the middle of the road, a juggler to entertain drivers in those seconds. Moments before the traffic light stops being red, the artist puts an end to his moment and moves from vehicle to vehicle in search of gratification.
It’s the (unsafe) life of a street artist. But ‘(not safe)’ is not just from the perspective of those who expose themselves to the dangers of the road to make art and earn a living. Drivers or passers-by can also be injured in those seconds if the tricks don’t go as expected.
The case we report today ended in tragedy. Sixto Naranjo56 years old, died after being run overon Sunday, in Barreiro, while doing his circus art.
As details, the Colombian artist was violently Crashed by car that went into a skidat the exit of the A39 motorway (and at the entrance to Barreiro). Sixto ended up dying the following day, at Garcia de Orta Hospital, in Almada. THE driver suffered minor injuries.
The CM also reveals that the accident occurred at 7:24 pm on Easter Day, at the Galitos intersection, near Santo André – a place where the artistalso known as Puener, worked for several years.
“On the day of the accident, I spoke to him and we said a good goodbye. He went to work, and never came home”, lamented, on social media, his son, Bruce Sanchezalso mentioning that the father “was very happy to have managed to bring his wife and three other children to Portugal”.
