The deputy (PL-MG) said on Wednesday (8.Apr.2026) that he asked the president of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP), to guide the analysis of the president’s (PT) veto of the Dosimetry PL (Bill). On social media, the congressman claimed to have done “an appeal that does not arise from politics, but from conscience”.

Lula vetoed it on January 8, 2026, during a ceremony commemorating the 3rd anniversary of the acts. The text had been approved by Congress. The Legislature can still maintain or overturn Planalto’s decision.

Nikolas wrote: “Today, after so long, I was able to look into the eyes of the president of Congress, Davi Alcolumbre, and make an appeal that is not born from politics, but from conscience. I asked, almost as if pleading, that he support the veto of dosimetry, so that families can breathe again, so that suffering can be shortened and so that Justice is not only law, but also mercy.”

The deputy said that, “in the Christian spirit, we are called to something higher: to love even those who hurt us, to forgive when it would be easier to harden, and to choose the greater good even when it requires courage.”

And he added that, “clemency is not weakness, it is the strength of those who understand that Justice without compassion becomes a burden, but Justice with mercy returns hope, restores lives and remembers that, above any dispute, there are people, families and dignity that cannot be forgotten”.
