Race for TCU: Seven candidates compete for minister Aroldo Cedraz’s seat

The hearing is expected to take place next Monday (13), at 2pm, when the Finance and Taxation committee will deliberate on the nominations

Seven names were nominated by party leaders to run for nomination to the Chamber of Deputies for the position of minister of the Federal Audit Court (TCU).

In all, seven names will undergo a hearing before voting in the plenary.

A Competition for the position is due to the retirement of minister Aroldo Cedraz. They are:

  • Danilo Forte (PP-CE), nominated by the PSDB/Citizenship Federation
  • Hugo Leal (PSDB-RJ), nominated by PSDB
  • Elmar Nascimento (União-BA), nominated by União Brasil
  • Gilson Daniel (Pode-ES), nominated by Podemos
  • Odair Cunha (PT-MG), nominated by MDB, PT, PDT, PCdoB, PSB, Republicans, Solidariedade, PRD, PP, PV and Psol
  • Soraya Santos (PL-RJ), nominated by PL
  • Adriana Ventura (Novo-SP), nominated by Novo

The prediction is that the hearing takes place next Monday (13), to 2pm, when the Finance and Taxation committee will deliberate on the nominations.

The Federal Audit Court (TCU) is made up of nine ministers. Of these, six are nominated by the National Congress and three by the President of the Republic. The names nominated after passing through a hearing still need approval by the Federal Senate.

Among the body’s responsibilities, the TCU analyzes the accounts provided annually by the President of the Republic and monitors the application of federal public resources.
