On the sidelines of a visit to the city of Maia, in Porto, where he inaugurated a municipal headquarters, André Ventura once again distanced himself from the Government. The Chega leader left messages regarding the labor reform chapter, adding that, in order to refine positions, the Government must accept the party’s conditions.
“Manage to carry out a review of the labor law, but at the same time ensure that shift work and overtime work is appropriately valued, which guarantees that dismissals will not be the rule and will not be a new normal in Portugal, nor do businesspeople want that. This is just an example of issues that, if the Government is willing to work on, we are too.”
The President of Chega also accused the Government of profiting from the rise in fuel prices caused by the war in Iran
“I also hope to convince Luís Montenegro that it is important that we lower VAT on fuel. It is very, very important. People are paying an absolutely pornographic price. They say that prices may go down a little on Monday, but they are at very, very high values and it is just a matter of lowering a little of the profit that the State is making from this, 30 or 40 or 50 million euros more.”
Speaking to journalists, André Ventura also revealed that he is going to court following a defamation complaint filed by former PSD deputy, Joaquim Pinto Moreira.
“It’s not yet public, but I received the notification in the last few days and I’m going to have to go to court, on the 24th, to be heard because Dr. Pinto Moreira thinks I offended him, when we all know that he was the one who embezzled money. And this is what the country has had for I don’t know how long. In this country, those who steal are those who feel offended.”
Regarding the former leader of Chega, Nuno Pardal Ribeiro, convicted of the crime of prostitution of minors, André Ventura remained silent.
