SHMÚ warns: Night frosts destroy fruits and vegetables, and the following days will not be better either

In most of the Slovak Republic, the temperature dropped below zero degrees Celsius during the night from Friday (April 10) to Saturday. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informed about it on the social network, saying that the temperatures tormented gardeners and fruit growers in particular. At the same time, he pointed out that a cold night awaits Slovakia from Saturday to Sunday (April 12).

“The night before, the air temperature again fell below zero in most of the territory, and it again tormented gardeners and fruit growers in particular. In two meters, it did not freeze only in some places on the Danube Plain, or in hillside locations. In the coldest valleys, the temperature dropped to minus eight degrees Celsius,” meteorologists zoomed in.

According to them, low temperatures threaten this night as well. “It could be a degree or two warmer in places,” they added. According to them, it will also freeze in most of Slovakia during the night from Sunday to Monday (April 13), especially in the eastern half of the country.

They expect warming at the beginning of next week. “The center of the low pressure area will move from Algeria to the area of Sardinia during Sunday, and warmer and later moist air from the south to the southeast will begin to flow towards us along its front from Monday. So night frosts will gradually disappear even in colder areas. Increased cloud cover should also be expected, but there will probably be little precipitation. So the drought, which is already occurring on a fairly decent area of the territory, will continue“, added SHMÚ.
