“It doesn’t make any difference,” says Trump about the outcome of war negotiations

President Donald Trump stated, this Saturday (11), that the result of the ongoing negotiations in Pakistan is irrelevant to the United States. Speaking to the press at the White House, the Republican demonstrated indifference regarding the possibility of an agreement with the Iranian government, claiming that the US has already achieved its objectives through force.

For the American leader, the country can now be considered victorious in the conflict. Trump justified his position by repeating that Iran’s military capabilities (including its navy, air force and central command) were dismantled by US actions. “It doesn’t make any difference,” he declared when asked about the dialogue taking place in Islamabad.

“No matter what happens, we win,” he said. “We completely defeated that country.”

In addition to downplaying diplomatic negotiations, Trump reiterated that Washington’s current efforts are specifically to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.

According to him, this maritime security operation benefits nations that he classified as incapable of acting on their own, calling them “weak” or “fearful”.

The president also took the opportunity to criticize traditional allies.

He stated that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) did not provide the expected assistance to the United States during the confrontation, reinforcing its stance of distancing itself from the military alliance.
