Linz – Abednego Cheruiyot, who took third place last year, won the 24th edition of the Linz Marathon on Sunday. After 2:08:53 hours, the Kenyan clearly relegated the Ethiopian Sahelislassie Bekele (2:09:32) to second place. In the women’s race there was a Kenyan double victory with Jackline Chepngeno in 2:26:01 hours ahead of Mary Munanu (2:26:59). Julia Mayer came third and became state champion in 2:29:48, while Mario Bauernfeind was eighth in the men’s category and was crowned champion.
