Lisbon Metro – Airport Station

An agreement was reached with the company that guarantees some of the conditions that had led to the strike notice.

A greve 24-hour shift for workers Metropolitan of Lisboa scheduled for Tuesday was today revoked, a union source told Lusa.

The same source said that a agreement with the company guaranteeing some of the conditions that had led to the strike notice.

After, on Thursday, the strike on the Lisbon subway was joined by all workers in the professional categories covered by the notice, which led to the closure of the service, today, after meeting with the company’s Board of Directors, the union said that “conditions are met for the suspension” of the strike.

Speaking to Lusa, Sara Gligó, leader of the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS), explained that the company “ended up to accept” in negotiating how to stop the strike by the heads of the operational departments, namely workers at the Central Command Post, Central Command Room and Energy and Traction Command.

According to a union source, the strike would be related to non-compliance with agreements signed in 2019, particularly in terms of training and work organization, rejecting that salary increases are at stake.

Anabela Carvalheira, from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS), said last week that there have been “situations of moral and labor harassment” in the company.

Last Thursday, given that no Metro vehicles were circulating in Lisbon, there were users describing the situation in the capital: late and full buses and there were also no Uber and Bolt cars, Lisbon residents reported.

The Arbitration Court decided not to impose minimum services during this strike.
