Fico ended a three-day official visit to Vietnam

After negotiations with the president and the new prime minister of Vietnam, Fico takes away six agreements. The visit should be the start of a deeper economic and political partnership.

The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, ended his three-day official visit to Vietnam on Tuesday, during which he was accompanied by a delegation of ministers and businessmen. During his stay in the capital, Hanoi, the Prime Minister honored the memory of Vietnamese communist leader Ho Chi Minh by laying a wreath at his mausoleum. He also paid tribute to national heroes and martyrs at the Monument to National Heroes.

As part of the official program, Fico met with Vietnamese President To Lam, with whom he discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Slovakia and Vietnam. An important point of the visit was the negotiation with the newly elected Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, during which both sides focused on the development of cooperation in the fields of economy, culture and defense.

Six new agreements

The result of the negotiations between the Slovak and Vietnamese sides was the signing of six agreements and memorandums on cooperation. These documents cover a wide range of areas, from economic cooperation to cultural exchange. The Slovak delegation emphasized the importance of these agreements for strengthening mutual relations and supporting business activities between the two countries.

The prime minister was accompanied on his foreign trip by several members of the government, including the Minister of Defense Robert Kaliňák, Minister of Economy Denisa Sakova, Minister of Foreign Affairs Juraj Blanár, Minister of Finance Ladislav Kamenický, Minister of Agriculture Richard Takáč and Minister of Culture Martina Šimkovičová. The presence of the business delegation underlined Slovakia’s interest in developing business relations with Vietnam.

Strengthening relationships

The visit to Vietnam was part of Slovakia’s broader strategy to strengthen relations with Southeast Asian countries. Prime Minister Fico expressed satisfaction with the results of the negotiations and emphasized that Vietnam is an important partner for Slovakia in the region. Both sides agreed on the need to continue the dialogue and look for new opportunities for cooperation that would benefit both countries.
