Hygienists urgent warning: do not buy THIS! Salmonella was discovered in a popular product

Office of Public Health (ÚVZ) SR draws attention to a product of frozen raspberries in a retail chain in Poland, in which the presence of bacteria of the genus Salmonella was detected. The chain has withdrawn the product. At the same time, the Office informed that, as of today, it has not received a notification through the rapid warning system for food and feed RASFF about the placing of the product in question on the market in the Slovak Republic. TASR was informed about this by the ÚVZ communication department.

It is supposed to be a product with a name “Frozen raspberries new one” with lot number 011/04/2509 2027 A 324/1. “ÚVZ SR strongly recommends to consumers and operators of food businesses, especially in the border areas of the Slovak Republic with the Republic of Poland, not to buy, consume or use the product from the affected lot for the production of food, including drinks and dishes. In the event that health problems appear after consumption, it is necessary to seek the attending physician,” the office said.

Salmonellosis disease usually manifests itself within six hours to three to seven days after eating food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Symptoms mainly include abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea, dehydration, nausea and vomiting. Young children, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system are more likely to have a more severe course of the disease.
