Lula eliminates doubts about running for a 4th term

President says he has “moral and Christian commitment” and, in reference to the Bolsonaro family, states that his candidacy is to avoid a “fascist” return to command of the country

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated this Tuesday (April 14, 2026) that he intends to run for a 4th term as President of the Republic. The statement was given in an interview with the websites Brasil 247, Forum Magazine and DCM.

According to Lula, his decision is linked to a “moral, ethical, even Christian commitment” to prevent “Let a fascist rule this country again.”. The PT member refers to the pre-candidate for President (PL), son of the former president (PL).
