Representatives of 8 religions are elected to the council on freedom of belief in SP – 04/14/2026 – Panel

Representatives of eight religions were elected to the Municipal Council for the Defense and Promotion of Religious Freedom (Complir), a body of the São Paulo City Council aimed at promoting inter-religious dialogue and guaranteeing freedom of belief in the city of São Paulo.

The choice, made by popular consultation, chose Daniel Francisco de Souza (evangelical from the Bola de Neve Church), Roberto Carlos Quinto de Souza Santos (candomblé), Cláudia Roberta de Lima Moreira (umbanda), José Bizon (Catholicism, from the Archdiocesan Mitra of São Paulo), Ali Al Khatib (Islam, from the Brazil Mosque), Alessandro de Moraes (Santo Daime), Ana Beatriz Prudente Alckmin (Judaism, from B’nai B’rith São Paulo) and Claudia Regina Issa Parrero (Wicca).

In the case of Judaism, the chosen one was Ana Beatriz Prudente Alckmin, director of education at the pacifist organization B’nai B’rith. A black Jew, she is also a member of: Rotary Club, Me Too and African Jewish Alliance.

He says that, in his role at Complir, “he will have the challenge and responsibility of fostering constant inter-community dialogue, contributing to clarifying the culture, memory and positions of the Jewish community, in addition to expanding understanding, together with other religious traditions, about the plurality and diversity that characterize the Jewish people themselves”.
