Pontiff was the target of attacks from American President Donald Trump, after criticizing his conduct
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) endorsed Pope Leo XIV’s criticism of United States President Donald Trump. Recently, the pope said that “Jesus does not listen to those who wage war” and that Trump’s threat to destroy Iran’s civilization is “unacceptable.” Lula’s statements took place this Tuesday (14), in an interview with websites Brazil 247, Diary of the Center of the World e went.
“He (the pope) is fine. I was with him and came away very impressed,” he said. “I want to be in solidarity with the pope,” he said. “He is correct in his criticism of President Trump. No one needs to be afraid of anyone,” he continued.
Lula also criticized an image of artificial intelligence shared by Trump on social media. “With regards to Trump, I hope that little by little he will learn. That image of Jesus Christ, honestly, that does not help those who believe in a multilateral system and democracy”, he declared.
In the image in question, Trump appears in a white tunic and a red cloak. The American president’s hands emit bright lights, and his right hand touches the forehead of a lying man. Trump said he was a Red Cross doctor, not Jesus Christ.
