The national president of , , has been mentioned at the party’s top level as a possible vice-president on the former governor’s presidential ticket.
This scenario would depend on Caiado’s candidacy being “pure blood”, that is, without related parties, which could nominate a running mate.
Options for the PSD at this time are limited. Left-wing parties must support Lula (PT), and the
Center parties, such as MDB, Republicans and PSDB, must remain neutral, freeing regional directories to support the candidates they prefer.
If the PSD goes alone in the election, Kassab’s name will gain strength, even to give the institutional weight of the party’s presidency to the ticket.
The chief left the Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) government at the end of March and is eligible to contest the election.
Kassab has said, however, that he prefers political articulation work and has no interest in being on the ticket. The expectation is that Caiado will grow in the polls in the coming months and thus attract parties interested in an alliance.
