Tavira hosts, between April 24th and 26th, the Spring Festival, an initiative that takes place in the city’s downtown, namely in Rua do Cais, Jardins do Coreto e das Palmeiras and Mercado da Ribeira.
As a representative community of the Mediterranean Diet, listed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, the municipality promotes an event that values local identity.
In total, 120 exhibitors will participate across 63 stands, with traditional products and crafts from the region, highlighting “the local essence and authenticity”.
Program includes music, folklore and workshops for all ages
The program, which is free to access, includes itinerant entertainment with accordionists, performances by folkloric groups, musical moments and several workshops for children organized by the Semente de Alfarroba association.
Among the highlights are shows such as “Revolucion”, by D’ Dance Cia., performances of Alentejo singing with Rúben Luz Lameira and the concert “Domingos Canta Abril”, in addition to the participation of groups such as Rancho Folclórica de Santo Estêvão and Rancho Folclórica da Luz.
Event integrates celebrations of April 25th
The Spring Exhibition is part of the celebrations of the 52nd anniversary of the 25th of April in Tavira.
On the 25th, the program includes raising the flags at the Municipal Palace, at 10:30 am, followed by a formal session at the Antônio Pinheiro Municipal Theater, with institutional interventions, ending with the president of , Ana Paula Martins.
The celebrations continue during the afternoon with the screening of the documentary “50 Anos – 25 de Abril em Tavira”, reinforcing the historical and commemorative dimension of the date.
