United States President Donald Trump said this Thursday (16) that he will invite the leaders of Israel and Lebanon to the White House for peace talks, shortly after announcing a temporary ceasefire between the two countries.
“I will invite the Prime Minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, and the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, to the White House for the first meaningful negotiations between Israel and Lebanon since 1983,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
“Both sides want to see PEACE, and I believe that will happen, quickly!”, he added.
Shortly before, Trump announced that the two countries would begin a 10-day ceasefire starting this Thursday, at 6 pm Brasília time.
Israeli and Lebanese officials held their first direct talks in decades earlier this week in Washington.
