The federation between União Brasil and Progressistas should soon publish the status of the merger between the parties, with the definition of regional commands — including the scenario in São Paulo, where there was an impasse between the two acronyms. The expectation is that the document will include the names of who will command each State.

In São Paulo, federal deputy Maurício Neves, president of the PP, and former councilor Milton Leite, main leader of União Brasil in the region, They did not reach an agreement on who would lead the federation. Given the lack of understanding, the definition was taken to the national level.

The expectation is that the party presidents, Ciro Nogueira and Antônio Rueda, will jointly decide the names in the states and make the announcement together with the statute. There is no release date yet.

In recent days, Ciro Nogueira even considered taking command of the federation in São Paulo as a way of containing the dispute. The possibility generated a reaction from União Brasil in the state, which released a statement of repudiation. Despite this, PP interlocutors believe that the movement could still occur.

When contacted, Milton Leite stated that he does not consider the hypothesis” de Ciro took command in São Paulo and said that “there are still adjustments to be made in other states, which will be corrected”. Ciro Nogueira stated that the national executives will define the regional commands “at the right time”.

The approval of the merger between the two parties was approved by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) at the end of March, in other words, the federation is already working for the 2026 election. The TSE has already registered four other federations: Renovação Solidária, Brasil da Esperança, PSDB Cidadania and PSOL Rede. In the case of the Progressive Union, it becomes the largest party force in the country, as it brings together the largest group of deputies in the Chamber of Deputies.
