The Rio de Janeiro Military Police recorded 9,000 videos with images from 504 body cameras of agents who participated in Operation Containment, launched last year, which was believed to be linked to the criminal organization CV (Comando Vermelho).

The images were sent to the Federal Police after determination by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, rapporteur of the case.
After receiving the images, the PF asked the minister, on Wednesday (April 15, 2026), that the recordings be sent on physical media by the Rio police, in the original format, to verify their integrity.
To facilitate the forensic work, the corporation also requested that sections of interest be objectively indicated, in order to speed up the analysis of the case. Without screening, the expertise can take around 3 years to complete.
“The entirety of the content indicated for examination, estimated at around 4,500 hours of recording, must be subject to analysis, it is calculated, in the context of preliminary analysis and taking into account the availability of 10 federal criminal experts, a deadline of around 3 years”said the PF.
Last month, Moraes ordered the state government of Rio de Janeiro to send the images captured during the operation to the Federal Police. The corporation will be responsible for examining the material.
The minister’s decision was taken in the process known as ADPF das Favelas, ADPF (Arguição de Descomprimento de Preceito Fundamental) 635.
In the action, the Court has already determined several measures to reduce lethality during operations in communities in Rio de Janeiro.
