Armed boats from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard opened fire on a tanker sailing through the Strait of Hormuz this Saturday (18), according to a statement from the UKMTO (United Kingdom Maritime Traffic Organization).
The UKMTO reported that it received direct notification from the captain of what he reported “being approached by two IRGC (Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) war boats”, approximately 30 km off the coast of Oman.
The captain said there was no radio warning before the ship, whose identity has not been released by UKMTO, was fired upon.
“The tanker and crew are safe,” UKMTO said.
