Brazil beats Canada 1-0 and wins FIFA Series

The Brazilian women’s football team won, on Saturday (18), in Cuiabá, the FIFA Series titledefeating Canada by 1 a 0. With that, the green and yellow team finished undefeated the tournamentafter beating South Korea by 5 a 1 and Zambia for 6 a 1.

Brazil added 15 shots in the first half. The Canadian defense saved Kerolin’s goal on the line, Lauren headed the crossbar and Ludmila demanded a great save from goalkeeper Sheridan in the Brazilian team’s best opportunities.

The good performance of the national team did not leave coach Artur Elias satisfied, as he was quite nervous about the wasted opportunities. But in the second half the coach was relieved after just a minute. Kerolin was launched from the left, invaded the area and finished for Sheridan to be partially saved. Aline Gomes grabbed the rebound and hit it beautifully over the top to open the scoring.

Brazil’s extensive dominance was almost punished in the 18th minute, when Viens hit a header at Lelê’s right post. The move served to “wake up” Brazil, which regained its rhythm. Arthur Elias also made changes in an attempt to freshen up the team.

But in the 35th minute, Ary Borges received two yellow cards in a row and was sent off. The Canadian coach made four substitutions to increase offensive power.

Canada increased the pressure on the ball and cornered Brazil in their field. In the 41st minute, Lelê made a great save with his legs from a strong shot by Prince. The game became tense and the ball was played with some violence on both sides.

In the 50th minute, Lelê made another beautiful save with a shot from the edge of the area following another shot by Prince. In the end, Brazil managed to hold the score, secure the victory and lift the cup.
