The Lebanese army announced on Sunday that reopened the road and bridge in the south of the country that were damaged by Israeli attacks. Israeli attacks on the bridges over the Litani River have largely cut off the area south of the waterway from the rest of Lebanon, according to the Lebanese army. Israel claimed it was destroying bridges used by the militant group Hezbollah.
US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Israel and Lebanon agreed to a ten-day ceasefire in the conflictwhich claimed nearly 2,300 lives in Lebanon and displaced more than a million people as a result.
The Lebanese army and local authorities have been working to reopen roads blocked by Israeli attacks since the start of this ceasefire. They reopened the Qasmiyah Bridge on Friday morning, allowing displaced people from southern Lebanon to return to the area.
The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had created the so-called a yellow line, similar to the one in the Gaza Strip. Citing senior officials of the Israeli Defense Forces, CNN reported that the move would prevent residents of 55 Lebanese villages from returning to areas occupied by the Israeli army.
