The candidate for Miss Cosmo Brasil 2026, the Bahian Ana Luiza Mateus29 years old, was found dead, this Wednesday (22), after falling from her apartment located in Barra da Tijuca, southwest zone of Rio de Janeiro. Her 31-year-old boyfriend was arrested in the act on suspicion of feminicide.
According to the Military Police, agents were called early in the morning to investigate a report of psychological violence. At the scene, they found the victim lying in the service area of the building.
Witnesses reported that Ana Luiza and her boyfriend were there. That morning, her partner had left and returned around 4:30 am and the argument continued.
According to the information, an hour after his return, neighbors heard the sound of the fall and her body was found.
The Civil Police reported that the location was preserved for forensic examination and that the man was taken to the Homicide Police Station. The case continues to be investigated by the command of the 31st BPM (Recreio).

Ana Luiza would represent the state of Bahia in the Miss Cosmo Brasil contest that would take place later this year. In a statement, the organization lamented the young woman’s death, reflected on feminicide and stated that she “will not be forgotten”.
“In light of the information about what happened, the case calls for an urgent reflection on the situation in Brazil. Femicide cannot be treated as statistics or routine. It is a reality that needs to be faced with seriousness, commitment and collective action”, says the statement.
Friends and family also paid tribute to Miss. A friend described her as a “wonderful woman” who was pursuing “her dreams.”
On social media, the young woman had almost 40 thousand followers. On her profile, she used to post professional photos and moments of travel and body care.
