Trump says Iran is collapsing financially and security forces are not getting paid: Tehran’s immediate response

  • The US president claims that the Iranian army and police are not receiving their salaries.
  • Trump declared that Iran is collapsing financially because of the closed Strait of Hormuz.
  • Iran’s agriculture minister emphasized that most staple foods are produced in the country.

American president Donald Trump declared on Tuesday that Iran was “financially collapsing” as a result of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. TASR writes about it according to an AFP report. “Iran is collapsing financially! They want the Strait of Hormuz open immediately.” he wrote in a post on his social network Truth Social. He added that the Islamic Republic “desperately needs money”.

“Army and police officers complain they are not getting paid! SOS!!!” he added in his opinion. At the same time, Iran claims that the US blockade has only a minimal effect on the country’s ability to supply itself with basic goods and food.

Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nuri on Tuesday, he said that due to the size of the country, it is possible to import goods and food across the border. “About 85% of agricultural products and basic goods are produced domestically, so the country’s food security is ensured,” he added, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA.

The United States imposed a naval blockade on Iran’s ports and coastline on April 13, days after announcing a temporary truce that suspended the war with Iran for two weeks. Tehran considers the blockade an act of war and called it a violation of the ceasefire, which was supposed to end on Wednesday.

However, the head of the White House announced on Tuesday that at the request of Pakistan, the US extends the ceasefire with Iran. According to him, the aim is to give Tehran more time to submit a comprehensive proposal for negotiations. At the same time, he added that they will continue to block Iranian ports.
