One of the main favorites for the Arnold Classic South America title in the Open category is Irish-Nigerian Blessing Awodibu. In an interview with the column, the bodybuilder did not hold back in praising the nation: “If someone asks me which is the main bodybuilding country in the world, I answer that it is Brazil.”
The statement, according to the athlete, is due to the “energy” of the public and “the fact of how people are educated”.
“I’ve visited several gyms here and it’s no joke, they all take training very seriously. If you go to other countries and talk about bodybuilding with someone who isn’t in the industry, they won’t have the slightest idea what you’re talking about. Here, people respect bodybuilders. I can’t wait to add even more to all this energy that the fans generate”, he adds.
Champion of important IFBB Pro League tournaments such as the New York Pro and Indy Pro, the “Bogeyman” – the nickname by which he is known – also comments on his relationship with his opponents: “Honestly, I don’t care about my opponents. My mission here is to present my best physique and add to the show. I encourage them to be better and better, and they encourage me to be better and better too. That’s my main objective.”
“Brazilians are party people, and I am a party person. I am an energetic person. My first visit to Brazil was in 2024 and I witnessed a very good energy, that is what brought me back (…) I love Brazilians, I love the energy here, the food. I will definitely come back. Who knows, I might make Brazil my second home”, he concludes.
Also called the Arnold Classic Brasil, the championship in question takes place within the Arnold Sports Festival South America fair – the biggest fitness industry event in all of Latin America. This year’s edition takes place between this Friday (24) and next Sunday (26) at Expo Center Norte, north of São Paulo (SP).
