Boavista asks the court for urgent intervention to cancel the auction for the Bessa Stadium

Boavista fans want the club to be recognized as Municipal Intangible Heritage

Boavista requested the cancellation of the auction for the sale of the Bessa stadium and the sports complex, which begins next Monday and lasts until May 20th. SIC knows that the club requested urgent intervention from the Gaia Commerce Court.

The Porto club says that the as it is presented does not reflect the value of the assets and that it is essential to guarantee transparency and equality between interested parties. The base bidding value is close to 38 million euros.

Since 2008, the year in which it was relegated to the second league as part of the Apito Final process, Boavista has been going through a serious financial crisis that has worsened over the years. Debts reach 100 million euros.

A “slow death”

The auction takes place at a time of “slow death” for the Porto club, which has accumulated debts of more than 150 million euros.

Given the accumulated debts, the liquidation of Boavista’s assets was approved in September 2025 to curb the losses of the insolvent estate.

Boavista registered in the fourth and final district division, but, as it was in solidarity with SAD’s debts, which resulted in seven impediments to the registration of new football players with FIFA, it gave up competing in October, without having played any matches this season.

SAD, led by Senegalese Fary Faye, has aligned itself with former and current players from the respective under-19 team, integrated into the national II Division at that level, but has not yet released FIFA’s restrictions, making it impossible, for now, to use the reinforcements made official in the summer.
