Shooter is a “sick” and “lone wolf”, says Trump

Republican was rushed out of event in Washington after sounds of gunshots were heard

The President of the United States, (Republican), stated this Saturday (April 25, 2026) that the shooter outside the dinner with sectoral journalists at the White House is a “sick”. According to the president, he is from California, is 31 years old and was detained. The name was not disclosed.

Trump told reporters he believes this is a “lone wolf”, namely, that he acted alone. Asked why he thinks this type of situation continues to occur, given that he was the target of one in July 2024, the Republican said that people go after those who make an impact. He cited Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), who was assassinated.

In another post, Trump posted a video that appears to show the shooter running and trying to bypass security at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the dinner was being held. The Republican stated that an agent was hit, but that he was wearing a bulletproof vest and that he was fine.

Video circulating on social media shows Trump sitting at the table when Secret Service agents enter and remove him and the other guests. You can hear screams of “stay down”, or “Stay down.”
