Stranded humpback whale in Germany: animal rights activists call for killing

Wismar – Shortly before the start of a major rescue operation, animal rights activists spoke out in favor of killing the humpback whale stranded off the German Baltic Sea island of Poel. Currently the only justifiable measure is to save the whale through euthanasia, explained the Whale and Dolphin Conservation. “However, the implementation requires special technical expertise and experience with the euthanasia of large whales and is associated with risks for the emergency services involved.”
