Zema made peace with the Inconfidência Mineira – 04/25/2026 – Elio Gaspari

The former governor of Minas Gerais made peace with the Inconfidência Mineira. Flogging the “untouchables” of the Federal Supreme Court, he took advantage of the anniversary of the execution of and said: “Brasília explores Brazil as the Portuguese did. (…) The struggle of the inconfidentes is not over.”

In a similar event, in 2023, Zema saw the Conjuration with different eyes: “Fearing the consequences of the coup against the Portuguese Crown, the inconfidentes did not confess their crimes. The only one to do so was Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, who became the Martyr Tiradentes, upon receiving the harshest sentence, on April 21, 1792”.

Everything wrong. The rebels told what they planned, starting with lawyer Cláudio Manuel da Costa, patron of Brazilians who “commit suicide” in prison. There are more than a dozen confessions and denunciations. Zema sided with the Portuguese Crown. Fortunately, he changed sides.
