Esteban Andrada, Argentine goalkeeper of Real Zaragoza, was “very sorry” for what happened this Sunday in the match against Huesca, in which he apologized for an act that was the result of a disconnection and that, as he assured, will not happen again. “I am very sorry for what happened. It is not a good image for the club, for the people and for a professional like I am,” explained the goalkeeper in a video published on Real Zaragoza’s social networks.
“Throughout my career I have only had one expulsion and it was for touching it with my hand, you can see my trajectory. It was an extreme situation, I went out of the context and reacted that way. I am very sorry. I would not do it again because I am a public person and a professional with many years of career,” Andrada extended, who now faces a harsh sanction. He also apologized to Jorge Pulido: “We are colleagues and honestly it was my act that I disconnected at that moment and I am here for the consequences that LaLiga tells me. If they want me to go talk to give explanations, I will go,” concluded the Zaragoza goalkeeper.
Previously, Zaragoza issued a statement in which it condemned the incidents at the end of the match against Huesca in El Alcoraz and indicated that it “will analyze the events that occurred and take the appropriate disciplinary measures” with Esteban Andrada. “We are an example and role model for many fans, especially boys and girls, who encourage us in every game and aspire to one day become one of their idols. That is why these unfortunate images should never have occurred,” the text added.
Huesca statement after the altercation
The Sociedad Deportiva Huesca has expressed “its strongest condemnation” of what happened in the final minutes of the match played against Real Zaragoza this Sunday at the Alcoraz field, a pitched battle between players from both teams, in which the Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada punched the captain of the Huesca team, Jorge Pulido, in the face.
“The events recorded in that final stretch of the match do not correspond with the values of the sport or with the principles defended by our entity,” the Huesca club said in a statement in which it added that this type of behavior has no place in football and is far from the respect and sportsmanship that should prevail in the competition. Sociedad Deportiva Huesca accepts the apologies expressed by Real Zaragoza after what happened and considers that these events should not cloud what this match represents, a date of special relevance within Aragonese football between its two main teams.
