The pre-candidate for the Senate for Santa Catarina, Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), warned Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) about the risks of launching a candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic with former governor Romeu Zema (Novo) as vice-president.
In a post on social media, Carlos recalls Zema’s statement, in 2023, in which the former governor of Minas Gerais says he is “totally in favor” of Lula’s tax reform. In the text, Jair Bolsonaro’s son argues that, “wherever he goes in Santa Catarina and Brazil”, he sees investors and contractors who show enormous concern about the increase in taxes brought by the tax reform, which “has not even come into full force”.
Carlos highlights that supporting “those who receive millions and offer illusory speeches will only lead to a more difficult path” in the elections in October and highlights that it is necessary to unite the right to win in the first round. Next, the senator’s brother is more emphatic in his request:
“My brother Flávio, I want nothing from you other than your friendship and the keys in your hands. Listen to at least a little of what I’ve been telling you for some time, and not just those who have interests around you. You need to consider. You’re taking the bait more easily than lambari on a mosquito hook and the fish is just getting fatter and naughty”, he concludes.
Romeu Zema is considered by leaders as a possible vice-president for Flávio. However, the former governor and also a pre-candidate for the Presidency has already reiterated, on several occasions, that .
In parallel, Flávio has also made it clear that he wants a female name to form the ticket and, thus, get closer to an electorate that is more difficult for the Bolsonaro family to reach.

One of the names most mentioned by the PL pre-candidate is Tereza Cristina, senator for the Progressive Party (PP-MS), who is also strongly recognized as a political leader in agribusiness, another key group for the campaign.
