New alcohol ban and protection zones near Westbahnhof and Gumpendorfer Straße

The city of Vienna is introducing a new alcohol ban zone around the Westbahnhof. It will extend from Felberstrasse via the Neubauzeile and Christian-Broda-Platz to parts of the outer Mariahilfer Strasse. A new protection zone will also be introduced around the Fritz-Imhoff-Park near the U6 station Gumpendorfer Straße. It is intended to contribute “to the special protection of minors” and to sustainably combat “the entrenched drug trade around the subway station”. In addition, there will be a package of measures for more cleanliness, quality of life and optimized substitution treatment in Vienna. Both new zones come into force on May 8th.
